See Segment evolves | page 26 Buy boosts Wyndham’s portfolio Microtel, Hawthorn contribute 29,000 rooms Parsippany, N.J.–Bidding wars for parent company US Franchise Systems have finally ended, and Wyndham Worldwide Corp. will acquire the Microtel Inns & Suites and Hawthorn Suites hotel brands, together totaling more than 29,000 rooms, from a subsidiary of Global Hyatt Corp. “This is right down the center of the fairway for us,” Wyndham Hotel Group president and c.e.o. Steven Rudnitsky said at the New York University International Hospitality Industry Investment Conference on June 3.
