Hilton Hotels hosted a hospitality training session at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., to educate the U.S. athletes in Chinese culture, customs and etiquette before they represent the country in Beijing. More than 40 percent of U.S. athletes say they have made faux pas when in another country, and this session was aimed to fix that. Athletes like [top, from left to right] Diana, Steven and Mark Lopez, spent time using the Hilton Hotels “be hospitable Traveler Program,” an interactive tool that provides the proper cultural tidbits for certain situations. Gymnast Morgan Hamm [bottom] read and signed copies of a children’s book about the importance of kindness and teamwork. Featured speakers at the session included international protocol expert Roger Axtell and TV news correspondent Gideon Yago.
