The SpringHill Suites St. Louis Airport/Earth City is owned by Otis and Clark Properties and managed by Marriott International. Embassy Suites Hotels announced the brand’s debut in Alaska with the opening of the Embassy Suites Anchorage. The 169-suite hotel also is the upscale brand’s first property developed and owned by Stonebridge Cos. Interstate Hotels & Resorts opened and will operate an aloft hotel in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. The 136-room, newly built hotel is owned by a joint venture between Interstate and The John Buck Co. Developed and owned by the joint venture between Silver Hotel Group and Northampton Group, the 136-room aloft Montreal Airport will offer intuitive technologies, atmospheric public spaces and a wide array of guest amenities. ALOFT FINANCING Kimpton Hospitality Partners II, which recently closed a $246-million equity fund, will invest in the development of the new Hotel Palomar Chicago, the fourth Kimpton hotel in Chicago. The newly constructed, fullservice hotel, being developed in a partnership with The John Buck Co., will be the 11th Hotel Palomar in the Kimpton collection of boutique hotels. The hotel is scheduled to open in the fall of 2009. RockBridge Capital LLC announced the closing of a first mortgage investment for the development of a 102room SpringHill Suites in Wichita, Kan. The hotel will be developed, owned and operated by A.G. Holdings. Holliday Fenoglio Fowler L.P. arranged a $165-million construction loan for the W Hotel & Residences, a luxury mixed-use project in Austin, Texas, on behalf of Stratus Properties and the CanyonJohnson Urban Fund to secure the loan through Corus Bank, N.A. Asperilla and managed by SKY Hospitality. Continental Properties Co. and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide opened an aloft hotel in Rosemont, Ill. With 251 rooms, it will be nearly twice the size of the typical aloft hotel. The hotel will be managed by Ambridge Hospitality, which is developing three other aloft properties in Texas. Best Western International announced the opening of the Best Western Inn at Circle T in Hamilton, Texas. Owned by Circle T Resort LLC, this brandnew hotel has 57 guestrooms, including 19 suites. The new Legacy Hotel & Meeting Centre is open in Rockville, Md. Cohen Cos. owns the 162-room boutique hotel. Buffalo Lodging Associates LLC opened the Homewood Suites by Hilton in Beachwood, Ohio. The 125-suite hotel is Buffalo Lodging Associates’ third in the greater Cleveland area. White Lodging opened two new hotels in Mettawa, Ill., a 164-room Hilton Garden Inn and a 130-room Residence Inn. White Lodging owns and operates the hotels. A new 84-suite SpringHill Suites by Marriott is open in Sioux Falls, S.D. Encore Hospitality owns and operates the hotel. A 99-suite TownePlace Suites by Marriott opened in Erie, Pa., in June. The TownePlace Suites Erie is owned by HMI and managed by Tharaldson Property Management. Benchmark Hospitality International, singer Gloria Estefan and her husband, Emilio Estefan Jr., opened Costa d’Este Beach Resort. The 94-guestroom luxury property is in Vero Beach, Fla. This new, non-smoking hotel, which is owned by Orangeburg Lodging LLC, offers 69 guestrooms, including 27 suites. The new Westin Reston Heights in Reston, Va., is owned by an affiliate of The JBG Cos. and is managed by Crestline Hotels & Resorts. The hotel has 191 guestrooms. A new Best Western Inn & Suites is open in Burleson, Texas. Owned by Rameshwaram LLC, the hotel offers 71 guestrooms, including 38 suites. Driftwood Hospitality Management launched its new boutique hotel concept, the Avenue Hotel. The first Avenue property is open in Chicago, following a $16-million construction and renovation project. The hotel has 200 guestrooms and 150 suites. The new InterContinental The Clement Monterey (Calif.) is the first new hotel to be built in Monterey since the late 1980s. An affiliate of Pacific Hotel Management owns the property and Pacific Hotel Management manages it. The property has 208 guestrooms. Indus Mehta Properties LLC opened a Microtel Inn & Suites hotel in Bath, N.Y. The hotel has 67 guestrooms. A 73-room Microtel Inn & Suites hotel opened in Johnstown, N.Y. DHC of Johnstown LLC owns the hotel. OPENINGS The new Hilton Bella Harbor is open in Rockwall, Texas. The 231-room hotel is owned by Whittle Development and operated by Gateway Hospitality Group. An 86-room Microtel Inn & Suites hotel opened in Port Charlotte, Fla. It’s the first Country Inn & Suites property in New Hampshire. Vista Heights Properties LLC owns the hotel. York Village Hotel LLC and Heyland Development opened Maine’s first Microtel Inn & Suites hotel in York. The hotel has 57 rooms. Marriott International opened the 108-suite Residence Inn by Marriott in Maumee, Ohio. First Hospitality Group manages the property.
