With the introduction of two new programs, BFG provides even more flexibility to fill customer needs. The stocking program is a new feature in which the furniture is in stock and in cartons for immediate LTL shipment. This furniture is available for small orders at volume pricing. This program is ideal for small hotels and longterm renovations. The quick ship program, on the other hand, allows for shipping within six to eight weeks. Product available is standard running lines and available in our standard colors only. While improving services, BFG also continues to focus on our green initiatives. The company employs an Environmental Manager to oversee all matters relating to the environment and reporting to both Provincial and Federal Government agencies. It should be noted that all electricity B consumed by BFG is generated by hydroelectric or wind power stations. The main aspects of our “green” program involve recycling, finishing, reducing, conserving and cleaning. We recycle wood cutoffs and sawdust collected from over 30 local businesses within the City of Winnipeg that would otherwise end up in landfills. From these materials and the waste wood created in our manufacturing plants, we produce our own particleboard. All used batteries and oil are collected and disposed of at a local waste disposal company, and all used cardboard is collected, compacted and sent for recycling. We finish product with a minimum of spray steps: hand-wiping product into the wood pores to achieve our desired look. We use water-based finish for small components and all other product is finished with low odor and low VOC topcoat. We reduce the amount of formaldehyde air and board emissions by running below industry standard emission rates. Industry standard for air emission is 0.3 parts per million, our particleboard plant runs at 0.05 to 0.07 PPM. Industry standard for board emission is 0.3 PPM; our particleboard plant runs at 0.13 PPM. We conserve energy throughout our plant by using various speed drive air compressors, which greatly reduce energy consumption. All electricity consumed by our manufacturing process is generated by hydroelectric or wind power stations. We are able to conserve energy by heating our buildings using sawdust from waste wood that is too fine to process as fuel for our boilers. We clean particle emissions by processes such as bio-filters and air pollution control systems (FlexClean), removing odor and VOCs from the air. Braman Furnishings Group has set a goal to have the smallest environmental footprint of any furniture manufacturer in North America. We spare no effort in making our product as environmentally friendly as possible. Braman Furnishings Group is also very conscious about fuel consumption. To help reduce these levels, we wrap our furniture in reusable blankets instead of boxes thereby allowing for more product in each container we load and thus reducing our fuel usage.
