The 15-acre, 350-room California property will open in January 2008. David R. Kelley, former director of operations at Hilton Toronto, joins Toronto’s SoHo Metropolitan Hotel as g.m. David McCartney joins Windsor Hospitality Group as the new g.m. at its recently renovated Asheville Renaissance Hotel in Asheville, N.C. Most recently, he was g.m. at Marriott’s Shelter Cove on Hilton Head, S.C. g.m. The Washington landmark recently went under an $11.1million renovation. Palta most recently served as area g.m. for the Irvine Marriott in Irvine, Calif. Jeffrey Pellegrino has been named assistant g.m. of the 127-room Four Points by Sheraton in Norwalk, Conn., which is managed by Waterford Hotel Group. He most recently served as the night manager at Hilton Downtown Hartford in Hartford, Conn. The 22-year industry veteran most recently headed hotel operations for Kimpton Hotel and Restaurant Group. Kerzner International Holdings Limited appointed Richard Mirman as executive v.p.—chief marketing officer, based in the company’s Plantation, Fla., office. Mirman most recently served in several executive marketing roles with Harrah’s Entertainment. Dennis Nau was named v.p. of brand operations for the new Nickelodeon Resorts by Marriott brand. Nau, the former g.m. of the New York Marriott East Side, is based at Marriott International headquarters in Bethesda, Md. He will be responsible for the brand’s strategy, development of the operating model, design and development of the hotel configuration and meeting space, and sales strategy and deployment. MANAGEMENT Thirty-year industry veteran Allan Farwell joins the Hyatt Grand Champions Resort, Villas and Spa, Indian Wells, Calif., Waterford Hotel Group appointed Sunil Sharma g.m. of the Courtyard by Marriott in Westborough, Mass. He most recently served as food-and-beverage director for the DoubleTree hotel in Westborough. John P. Silvia was appointed resident manager of Chicago’s Palmer House Hilton, the longest continuously operating hotel in North America. Silvia, who holds a doctorate in culinary arts, was most recently executive assistant manager at the Hilton Chicago O’ Hare Airport. Auberge Resorts has appointed Jeffrey Mahan as g.m. of its newest property, Encantado, located in Tesuque, N.M., just outside of Santa Fe. The 65-casitas property is scheduled to open next summer. Mahan most recently served as g.m. of the El Monte Sagrado Living Resort and Spa in Taos, N.M. The Blackstone, a Renaissance Hotel, appointed Fletcher C. Mayes as g.m. Denver-based Sage Hospitality Resources is completing a $112 million renovation of the 332room Chicago property, which it will manage. Mayes was most recently g.m. at the Hyatt Charlotte in Charlotte, N.C. Vincent Mercurio, most recently g.m. of The RitzCarlton, Lake Las Vegas, was named general manager of the soon-to-open London West Hollywood. The 220-suite Los Angeles property, part of the LXR Luxury Resorts collection, is scheduled to open in early 2008. Industry veteran François Thomas joins the Regent Boston at Battery Wharf as general manager. The 150-room luxury property is set to open next spring. SALES AND MARKETING Chaya Donne has been named director of sales and marketing for Omni Los Angeles Hotel at California Plaza. With its grand opening scheduled for summer 2008, Cavallo Point - The Lodge at the Golden Gate appointed Zeena Fakoury as director of sales for meeting and special events. Before joining the property, set within Golden Gate National Parks in Sausalito, Calif., she was a senior account executive for the San Francisco Marriott. Michelle Fuller was appointed director of sales and marketing for Seattle’s Hotel Deca.
