That’s why the company did its research before settling on the cleaning system from Electrolyzer Corp. known as ElectroCide. The Colonnade became a beta site to test Electrolyzer’s products, which consist of pure plain tap water and salt that are mixed to create electrolyzed water that can be used as cleaning agents and sanitizers. The hotel has used the system in housekeeping for 6 months. “This product really revolutionizes how we’re using products in the hotel industry and beyond,” said David Colella, v.p. and managing director, the Colonnade Hotel. At the Colonnade, ElectroCide is used in the main kitchen and in-house laundry. One product is being used as a sanitizer in the bar sinks and kitchen. The nontoxic cleaner and degreaser is also used in the kitchen and has eliminated use of a couple existing cleaning products. Future plans include its use in the hotel’s dishing machine. The hotel has eliminated about ﬁve chemicals in the housekeeping division. “We were told we’d save money when switching,” Colella said. Now, it’s to the tune of nearly $30,000 annualized savings.
