The brand structure formerly operated as Settle Inn LLC. The current credit crisis has eclipsed the savings and loan crisis of the late ’80s and early ’90s as the event with the single-greatest impact on the U.S. real estate industry from the past 20 years, according to a DLA Piper survey. The survey, measuring the attitudes and perspectives of 424 top executives within the commercial real estate market, also reveals a record level of “bearish” sentiment. Hilton Hotels Corp. has appointed Thomas C. Kennedy to EVP and CFO. Kennedy will report to Hilton’s president and CEO Christopher J. Nassetta and will be responsible for oversight of Hilton’s global finance functions. RockBridge Capital named James T. Merkel to president, where he will report directly to the CEO. HENEY A PKF Hospitality Research study forecasted demand for U.S. hotel rooms to slow over the next two years. Along with a concurrent increase in supply, PKF is predicting occupancy rates to decline for both the remainder of 2008 and 2009. PKF also predicts a moderate average daily rate growth of 1.3 percent in 2009. McCue, on stage in front of about 400 front-line employees, beamed at the enthusiastic show of support. The crowd roared its approval at the interruption. This was the norm at the Embassy Suites Make a Difference Training Camp, held at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort from September 15-17. Missing from the attendance list at this first-of-its-kind camp were any sort of property managers. Instead, filling the seats was an assortment of front-line and back-of-thehouse employees: housekeepers, engineers, front desk personnel, banquet servers and shuttle bus drivers.
