Therefore, it makes sense to take full advantage of the guestrooms or meeting spaces that are being reserved and get the most possible dollars for those rooms. This notion has evolved from simply raising rates on highdemand days to computing hun- dreds of algorithms in attempts to forecast demand and determine the perfect price points. The practice of revenue management has been in use for several decades. But since 2000, those who practice revenue management and the technology behind it have taken a giant leap forward. Many experts say managing revenue will be the industry’s savior during this economic downturn.
