By Chris Crowell ASSOCIATE EDITOR H&MM | CHRIS CROWELL Orlando–A glimpse at Wyndham Worldwide’s new hotel direction was given at the Super 8 and Days Inn brand conferences at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in mid-February. The 2009 strategy is focused on lowering operating costs, launching new marketing strategies, improving guest service and building better support for franchisees. Eric Danziger, president and CEO of Wyndham Hotel Group, essentially delivered the same message to franchisees of both brands, conveying one main vision for all Wyndham properties at the corporate level. “Our focus is to support you through these tough times with our powerful brands and, simply, a back-to-basics approach,” he said to both crowds of franchisees. He outlined three general goals for each brand. The first is to manage rising costs and drive revenue. Danziger said this will be accomplished by using an expanded revenue-management system and a reworked procurement program that all brands, Wyndham Vacation Ownership and Group RCI will share. “I think we should be able to provide you the best pricing for all your needs,” Danziger said. The second goal is to further develop and grow each brand, and the third is to improve communication between the franchise and its properties, using the Internet to be more useful and informative.
