Arnold ith new-release Tuesday last week falling on Christmas Day, no new DVDs arrived in stores. Several titles were officially released just before or after Christmas, but none could topple the previous week’s top DVD seller, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment’s The Simpsons Movie, from the No. 1 spot on the national DVD sales chart for the week ended Dec. 30. On Home Media Magazine’s rental chart for the week, it was a different story. New Line Home Entertainment’s Rush Hour 3, released Dec. 20, debuted at No. 1, with estimated rental revenue of $11.9 million. Universal Studios Home Entertainment’s The Kingdom, out Dec. 26, debuted at No. 2, with rental earnings of $11.2 million. The Simpsons Movie, the previous week’s chart- W topper, slipped to No. 3, but still managed to rake in a respectable $10.6 million. Rush Hour 3 and The Kingdom bowed at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, on Nielsen VideoScan’s First Alert sales chart, while the next three slots went to summer theatrical blockbusters released earlier in December: Warner Home Video’s Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix at No. 4, Universal Studios’ The Bourne Ultimatum at No. 5 and Walt Disney Studios’ Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End at No. 6. Universal Studios’ American Pie Presents: Beta House, the third in a series of direct-tovideo sequels to American Pie, was released Dec. 23, the Sunday before Christmas, and debuted at No. 12. Pirates also was the top Blu-ray Disc seller for the week, while on the HD DVD sales chart The Kingdom took No. 1.
