I STUDY: GROWTH IN HISPANIC TV A study has found that Hispanics are the fastest-growing demographic, yet the distribution rates for multichannel video packages are lower. SNL Kagan’s study “Economics of Hispanic TV Radio in the U.S., 2008 Edition,” states that about 71.6% of Hispanic households had a multichannel subscription in 2007, compared to 87.6% of the United States, which makes Hispanics a crucial focus for cable and satellite distributors. SNL Kagan foresees the increase of Hispanic multichannel homes from 8.7 million in 2007 to 9.7 million in 2011, while Hispanic TV homes are predicted to grow from 12.1 million to 13.4 million. The four key U.S. Hispanic broadcast networks had a $1.3 billion estimated combined revenue in 2007, and that figure is expected to be more than $1.6 billion in 2011. Combined cash flow could create larger growth, at a projected $627 million in 2011 from $460 million in 2006. – Ruby Cardenas I VENEVISION INTERNATIONAL Feb. 19 releases the Venezuelan novela Olvidarte Jamas (three-DVD $14.98), the Mexican comedy Los Candidatos (DVD $12.98), the Goya-nominated family film Entre Amigos (DVD $14.98) and the thriller Hypnosis (DVD $16.98), starring Demian Bichir and based on the novel Hypnos by Javier Azpeita.
