Arnold n a slow week for new releases, the two top DVD sellers from the previous week, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment’s The Game Plan and Lionsgate’s Saw IV, again topped the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart for the week that ended Feb. 3. The top-ranking newcomer was Warner Home Video’s The Invasion (No. 3), a remake of the sci-fi classic Invasion of the Body Snatchers, which, despite featuring Nicole Kidman in the lead role, grossed a miserly $15.7 million in theaters. The Invasion also was the top-renting new release of the week, bowing at No. 4 on Home Media Magazine’s video rental chart with estimated rental revenue of $6.2 million. I The top three renters remain unchanged: The Game Plan came in at No. 1 its sophomore week, while Lionsgate held down the next two berths with Good Luck Chuck at No. 2 and Saw IV at No. 3. After two weeks in stores, The Game Plan has now generated $18.7 million in rental revenue, or 21% of its theatrical gross. Good Luck Chuck has returned $27.7 million, or 79% of its box office receipts, while Saw IV has made $15 million, 24% of its gross. On the high-definition disc front, Lionsgate’s 3:10 to Yuma was the top-selling Blu-ray Disc the week ended Feb. 3, while Paramount’s Transformers was the top-selling HD DVD title. The top-selling HD release for the week was BBC Video’s “Planet Earth,” available on both Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD.
