So it should come as no surprise the company has launched a new label called Earth Now, for “films that analyze how we co-exist with our planet [and] that examine the environment, health, ecology and sustainability.” The first title to be released on the new label May 20 is Healing Cancer: From the Inside Out (DVD $19.95). In the documentary, Mike Anderson, author of the book The Rave Diet & Lifestyle, criticizes the medical industry for failing to find a cure for cancer and explores holistic alternatives to modern medicine. The ceremony takes place June 24 during EMA’s Home Media Expo 2008, running June 2426 at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. Begley earned the honor for his longstanding commitment to environmental causes. “He has been committed to this cause long before it was making front-page news,” said EMA president Bo Andersen. “Ed not only is involved in several environmental organizations, but he also extends his efforts into living an extraordinarily ‘green’ lifestyle — truly living by example.” Begley co-stars with his wife, Rachelle Carson, in the HGTV series “Living With Ed,” which chronicles the daily activities of the couple as they live a green lifestyle. Begley recently finished narrating several titles from the “Earth Cinema Circle” DVD series, a subscription-based DVD series that focuses on the importance of preserving Earth’s natural resources. DVDs from both series will be available from Gaiam. As an advocate for environmentally friendly living, Begley has served as chairman for the Environmental Media Association and the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, and participates on many boards of organizations, including the Thoreau Institute, the Earth Communications Office, Tree People and Friends of the Earth.
