If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” site publisher Jed Rosenzweig wrote to site members when the acquisition was announced April 8. “The main change in the coming weeks will be that Internet Brands will be migrating the site to morepowerful computers. Beyond that, Internet Brands plans to brainstorm with the staff, forum moderators and this community about improvements that would make the site even better. “The plan is to maintain High-Def Digest as a standalone site, while leveraging Internet Brands’ resources where they can enhance the site.” The two new Web sites under Internet Brands, which first went public in mid-November, were among five the company announced it had acquired this month. The number of theatrical releases during the first quarter came to 142 — up from last year’s 127 and 133 in 2006. The number of hit films, those grossing at least $25 million at the box office, was also up nicely at 25 from 22 last year and 23 in 2006. The number for this year may even reach 27 as a couple of late March debuts are still generating ticket sales.
