Music videos will be available for purchase on a download-to-own basis for $1.99. Select live performances and long-form videos will be available for purchase on a download-toown basis from $9.95 to $14.95 and on a 24-hour rental basis from $2.99 to $3.99. The music videos are offered in a 1500K single-file format, which E company officials say eliminates the need to download separate files for a PC and portable media player. The site also will include uncut European versions of select music videos and concert performances. Beginning this fall at select college towns, fans will be able to burn images, video highlights, logos and actual game footage onto blank discs. Collegiate Images is the centralized licensing and rights clearance agency for the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA). “[Polar Frog’s] burn-on-demand DVD kiosks will allow sports fans to stay connected with their favorite college sports anywhere and anytime they want,” said Dave Robertson, VP sales for Collegiate Images. Last summer, Scottsdale, Ariz.based Polar broke ground distributing standalone self-serve kiosks to video stores and adult novelty retailers that let consumers create custom adult-themed DVDs in-store in about six-to-eight minutes.
