The move allows video purchased over the Internet to be burned to DVDs and played in most DVD players. Sonic Solutions already is peddling its Qflix recordable CSS program and DVD-on-demand software. I B R I N G I N G D I G I TA L E N T E R TA I N M E N T TO YO U Primera Technology Inc., a developer of DVD and Blu-ray Disc duplication and printing equipment, said it’s working with Sonic Solutions to offer hardware for disc-on-demand retail kiosks. With Sonic’s technology and licensing program, Primera will begin incorporating CSS recording capabilities into its automated disc publishing systems. This time, it’s not from copyright holders, but rather a nonprofit group that Sept. 26 sent several lawmakers letters haranguing Google for facilitating the screening of illegally copied movies, according to the Associated Press. It is known for revealing a conflict of interest in a $30 billion plan for the Air Force to lease aircrafts from Boeing, which resulted in multiple firings at Boeing and jail time for involved parties. NLPC chairman Ken Boehm, who described his organization as made up of individuals who “tend to be free-market types,” said it isn’t tied to the movie industry. Rather, it is criticizing Google on an ethical basis. “One of [Google’s] unofficial corporate mantras was ‘Do no evil’; here’s a multibillion-dollar corporation ripping off smaller movie studios.
