I BY STEPHANIE PRANGE t’s nice to see folks who don’t just complain about something, but actually take action to change it. In this month’s issue, we’ve got two stories of Christians who saw what Hollywood provided and decided to create change for themselves. Singer-actor Randy Travis — our cover profile — stands by his principals when it comes to accepting acting roles. With his partners in Outreach Cinema, he has spearheaded a production company that seeks to offer content that can fit comfortably in a Christian home. Serving the renewed interest in faith-based films, Outreach Cinema, a division of Christian film studio Pure Flix Entertain- ment, specializes in the promotion and release of films to churches. The series begins with The Wager, a faith-based film starring Travis. Another group of Christians at Sherwood Baptist Church didn’t start out in the established entertainment industry. They decided to put out a film themselves, Flywheel, which, along with the church’s second film, Facing the Giants, caught the eye of Hollywood. This month Flywheel is getting a wide DVD remastered re-release in conjunction with a major studio, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Both of these efforts help widen the library of content that reflects the values Christians hold dear.
