Arnold arner Home Video’s 10,000 B.C. scored a triple victory the week ended June 29, topping the national DVD sales and rental charts as well as the Bluray Disc sales chart its first week in stores. The $94.8 million theatrical hit, a prehistoric epic that cost more than $100 million to make, easily beat Paramount’s The Spiderwick Chronicles for the No. 1 slot on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart, racking up about 25% more sales than the children’s fantasy, which earned $71.2 million at the box office. 10,000 B.C. also topped the Home Media Magazine video rental chart for the week, generating about 20% more activity than secondranked Fool’s Gold, also from Warner, which was No. 1 the previous week. W The Spiderwick Chronicles bowed at No. 3 on the rental chart and generated about 76% as much activity as B.C. The Universal Studios comedy Definitely, Maybe debuted at No. 3 on First Alert, followed at No. 4 by Fool’s Gold, the previous week’s top seller. On the rental chart, Definitely, Maybe bowed at No. 6. Also new to the First Alert sales chart was 20th Century Fox’s Futurama: The Beast With a Billion Backs, the latest direct-to-video feature film based on the TV series. Beast bowed at No. 6, a strong debut for a DTV release. On the Blu-ray Disc chart, 10,000 B.C. easily took the top spot, with second-ranked The Spiderwick Chronicles selling just 31% as many copies, according to Nielsen VideoScan.
