Photo by Alex Berliner © Berliner Studio/BEImages ‘Dirty Sexy Money’ Actors Excited For DVD Release By Chris Tribbey OSANGELES—DonaldSutherland doesn’t watch DVDs, and William Baldwin is worried he’ll get lampooned in the blooper reels, but both actors were genuinely excited about the home media release of ABC’s hit drama “Dirty Sexy Money.” The cast and crew mingled with executives from Disney and ABC at the Edison Downtown Sept. 8, talking up what many are calling the best television drama in recent years. “Obviously we have big expectations [for the DVD] because it’s a big series,” said Lori MacPherson, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment’s GM for North America. “This [DVD set] is a great way to expose new people to the series, a great entrée for the next season.” Actress Jill Clayburgh said the best part about watching the Sept. 16 DVD release will be the special features. “Who knows what they were filming when I wasn’t looking,” she said. “I don’t like to watch myself act, but L I’ll watch all those extras.” Baldwin said the series represents a significant boost to his career. “I’m on a show that everyone seems to dig,” he said. “In so many ways … it’s one of the biggest breaks of my career.” The cast took a few minutes to talk about DVD and Blu-ray Disc as well. “I’ve never been to a DVD release party before, so this is huge,” said actor Blair Underwood. “[DVDs] are a huge money-maker.” The DVD set will include a featurette looking at the inspiration for the show, a VIP set tour, bloopers, deleted scenes, a commentary and two other featurettes — “Haute Couture: Dressing the Darlings” and “The Other Woman: Candis Cayne.” The release is DVD-only, which disappointed one cast member. “Now I’m trying to convert everything to Blu-ray,” said actor Seth Gabel. “I went with the PlayStation 3 so I can play video games too.” By Kyra Kudick ony Pictures Home Entertainment Jan. 27 (prebook Dec. 25) releases Open Season 2 on DVD and Blu-ray Disc.
