Home Media Magazine - September 21, 2008 - (Page 26) JEAN N E WOM EN WOMEN IN HOME ENTERTAINMENT HOBSON SVP, Sales, Trade Marketing, and Distribution, North America, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment For record-breaking Disney DVD titles such as Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, The Little Mermaid and Enchanted, it’s Jeanne Hobson who can lay claim to much of the credit. The SVP of North American sales, trade marketing and distribution for Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, Hobson is responsible for the strategic plans for the studio’s home entertainment product. “Jeanne has always had a strong command over retail environments,” said Bob Chapek, worldwide president of Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment. “Her broad integrated approach consistently delivers strong results that keep WDSHE product well-positioned with all retailers.” Climbing the WDSHE ladder since 1995, Hobson started as a retail inventory supervisor, and has steadily added to her responsibilities until she earned her current post in 2006. HILARY HOFFMAN The Bourne Ultimatum, American Gangster, The 40Year-Old Virgin, King Kong, Knocked Up: Hilary J. Hoffman has been behind the DVD release of every one. “Hilary is a brilliantly gifted marketer with an astounding grasp of all aspects of our industry,” said Craig Kornblau, president of Universal Studios Home Entertainment and Universal Pictures Digital Platforms. “With nearly two decades of experience in home entertainment, she possesses a rare mix of creativity, an intuitive sense of the marketplace and a keen understanding of digital media.” In addition to spearheading hugely successful campaigns “for our entire slate of film and TV titles,” Kornblau added, “Hilary has played key roles in Universal’s Blu-ray Disc strategy and our industry-leading DVD Originals line.” Hoffman joined Universal in 1994 and has held a number of key marketing positions with the studio. Prior to joining Universal, she worked for Buena Vista Home Entertainment’s marketing department. SVP, Brand and Digital Marketing, Universal Studios Home Entertainment CHRISTINE LAWTON Christine Lawton is much more than an attorney. As SVP of business affairs for Universal Studios Home Entertainment since 2000, Lawton has shepherded the studio through dozens of DVD, Blu-ray Disc and VOD deals. Licensing and manufacturing agreements, litigation, contract negotiations — they all fall under her purview. “In addition to being a first-rate attorney and savvy negotiator, Christine is an extremely gifted executive with a unique talent for evaluating business opportunities,” said Craig Kornblau, president of Universal Studios Home Entertainment and Universal Pictures Digital Platforms. “In her role in helping to oversee our Digital Business Strategies team, Christine is helping to lead our company into the future.” Outside of the studio, Lawton works with USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications, and the Entertainment Merchants Association. Before joining Universal, Lawton was head of business and legal affairs for worldwide pay TV, PPV and international free TV for DreamWorks SKG.
