S Jack Talley, SVP of retail expansion for Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, said the retail plan is to go into the grocery stores through which Sony Pictures has distribution. Stores include Kroger, Safeway, H-E-B (in Texas) and ShopRite (in the Northeastern United States). “We feel our product matches up perfectly,” Talley said. Talley said plans include in-store marketing through signage, fixtures on existing signage, and placement near the front of the store or in relevant sections, such as in the deli or spice aisles or near baked goods. Other plans include possible in-store demonstrations and cross promotions with individual retailers on certain related food items. “Whether it’s an entire meal or side dishes or for a holiday, a consumer can purchase this, take it home, and have Rachel Ray or Alton Brown show them how to make these dishes fairly quickly, in a 30-minute time frame,” Talley said. “We feel it’s perfect for the person who’s in a store and might not know what they want to prepare that night or for later in the week.” ‘Dark Knight’ Swings To Home Video Dec. 9 By John Latchem arner Home Video is bringing the box office phenomenon The Dark Knight to home video Dec. 9 (prebook Oct. 28).
