Best-sellers on DVD, the titles both have a prebook date of Oct. 28. Paul McCartney: The Space Within Us was filmed in 2005 during the performer’s U.S. tour, using more than two-dozen high-def cameras. The feature-length concert film goes backstage, into the crowd, and into space, with astronauts aboard the International BRIEFS I COMCAST OFFERS FREE BASIC CABLE WITH OTHER SERVICE Comcast begins its “Get Ready” initiative, to help with the government-mandated transition to digital TV broadcasting, with an offer for free basic cable for 12 months to consumers who sign up for at least one other Comcast service. Current Comcast customers can add basic cable, covering about 20 to 30 channels, to additional TVs for free, and new users can get basic cable only (without signing up for other services) for $10 a month. “The simple fact is that basic cable is the easiest path through the digital transition, and now consumers can get it for free,” said Derek Harrar, GM and SVP of video services for Comcast. “With one call to 1-800-COMCAST, we can professionally install basic cable service on every cable-ready TV.” Also, Comcast has a dedicated Web site is available at www.comcast.com/dtvsite to help with the digital TV transition. – Billy Gil A Space Station receiving a live feed of one of the 30plus songs included. The Atlanta-based site will showcase video clips of female adult performers (such as former Digital Playground contract star Teagan Presely) reviewing Blu-ray adult titles and links where to buy them. But with current Blu-ray standards maxing discs out at two layers, and Sanyo not looking at mass production of the laser diode for at least two years, the news means little for Blu-ray consumer electronics products for now.
