High-definition programmer Voom HD Networks is releasing its first home videos through Amazon. com's DVD on-demand service. BBC Gets `Spa ced' By John Latchem arly work from the creators of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz comes to DVD July 22 (prebook June 17) when BBC Video releases the British cult comedy TV classic Spaced: The Complete Series. ªSpa cedº stars Simon Pegg and Jessica Hynes as two twentysomethings who meet in a North London café and decide to pose as a couple to share an apartment, further complicating their messy lives. The show aired in Britain from 1999-2001 and was directed by Edgar Wright. Animated `T ransformers' R olls Out June 17 By John Latchem he Transformers are back in animated form with a DVD of the movie that launched the new Cartoon Network series. Transformers Animated: Transform and Roll Out streets June 17 at $16.99 from Paramount Home Entertainment. This new interpretation of the Transformers mythology finds Optimus Prime leading a small force of Autobots in Detroit in the 22nd century, searching for the powerful Allspark to keep it out of the hands of the evil Decepticons. The show was developed by Cartoon Network and Hasbro, which makes Transformers toys. ªT ransformers Animatedº debuted to high E The show was known for its frequent pop-culture references, rapid editing and use of surrealism. The three-disc set includes all 14 episodes plus commentary, deleted scenes, featurettes and more for $49.98. The commentary tracks feature filmmakers who were inspired by the comedy of ªS paced,º including Quentin Tarantino, Kevin Smith, Bill Hader, Matt Stone, Patton Oswalt and Diablo Cody. ª Watching ` Spaced' is kinda like watching a Kevin Smith film if Kevin Smith had any real talent,º confessed Kevin Smith in press materials. T ratings among boys in the wake of Michael Bay's theatrical blockbuster Transformers film last year. The DVD includes two ªT ransformersº animated shorts. Hasbro's new toy line based on the animated series also launches in June and will be used to promote the DVD.
