Most weeks, even some of the big chains won't stock a full slate of new releases, preferring to send customers to the Internet. Of the big chains, Best Buy offers the widest selection of new releases in an average week. Circuit City' s DVD section is plastered with signs pointing shoppers to the chain' s Web site if they can' t find what they are looking for in the store. The bookstore chains, which are expanding their home video sections, still come up short compared to the big box chains, even online. Barnes & Noble, which seems focused on pushing high-end product and boxed sets, offers some good online discounts (members save more), that still don't match up with the in-store prices of other retailers. And Borders will special order hard-to-find titles at close to SRP Ð not much of an incentive when there's usually a Best Buy across the street that likely has the title in stock.
