The retailer said it would remain open during the fiscal restructuring. The No. 2 consumer electronics retailer said it expects same-store (open at least 12 months) sales to fall more than 24% per week on average through the end of the year compared to the same period last year, according to a court filing. Circuit City’s retail projection was part of a 13-week cash flow assessment included in its $1.1 billion debtor-in-possession budget (replacing a $1.3 billion assetbased credit facility), approved last week. The perception is that Blu-ray will be only a niche format, panelists said, while the reality is in its first two years it’s doing better than DVD during its first two years. The other perception is that digital downloading spells death for packaged media, but panelists say reality is found by following the money.
