Sprint subscribers will not only get first dibs on watching the show through their phones, but also will decide what will happen to the main character, Catalina. The writers of the series will use the viewers’ votes to write the storylines for the upcoming episodes. “We were looking at how to get the audience more engaged,” Peter Blacker, Telemundo’s EVP for digital media and emerging businesses, told Advertising Age. Telemundo tested the concept last year when it let fans vote on three alternative final episodes of another telenovela, “Victoria,” according to Advertising Age, but those episodes were seen only online and didn’t affect the finale on TV. 8 Home Media Magazine December 14–20, 2008 http://www.homemediamagazine.com http://www.Telemundo.com http://www.distrimaxinc.com http://www.distrimaxinc.com
