The Hotel Times - June 2008 - (Page 7) IN THE NEWS Transaction volume down, but single-asset deals strong Total hotel investment volume in the European hotel market dropped back to just under €19 billion in 2007, a 7-percent drop from 2006, according to the HVS European Hotel Transactions 2007 report. 2006 saw the highest amount of total hotel investment volumes in Europe since 2000, and the highest volume in portfolio activity since 2000. Single-asset transaction activity in Europe was strong in 2007. The UK led Europe, with 32 percent of single-asset transactions by value in 2007, at €1.5 billion. Spain came in second, with 20 percent of single-asset transactions in 2007, coming in at a total transaction value of €613 million. Berlin topped Germany' s list of transaction hotspots, while France came in fourth on the list.
