Massey, MD Volume Replacement and Contour Enhancement of the Face Ann Stubbs, MD • Anne Therese Aesthetic Medicine After this lecture, the participant will understand the use of hyaluronic acid fillers for mid-face volume replacement and contouring. Specifically this session will go beyond the filling of lips and nasolabial folds and help the practitioner address the volume loss in areas such as the tear trough, nasojugal groove, malar fat pad, and prejowl sulcus. Traditional facelift focuses on excision of wrinkles and redundant skin, which often fall short of rejuvenation of the face globally. Soft tissue fillers address the importance of volume replacement in the treatment of isolated fine lines and wrinkles. However, for the purpose of global rejuvenation of the aging face, these products are often cost prohibitive. Autologus free fat transfer an important technique in large volume restoration for the aging face. It can be performed under local anesthetic for volume augmentation of isolated areas such as the periorbital, brows, cheeks and lips. The best result in global facial rejuvenation is achieved when free fat transfer is done simultaneously with endoscopic vertical facelift. She has been the chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology in the Central Navy Hospital in Rio. As a founder and president of Total Rejuvenation Systems, she has researched and developed effective therapies that enhance and prolong effects of surgical and non surgical procedures. She has introduced in South America the Cosmetic use of Botox, and participated on the first stages of the FDA trial for Restylane, Q-Med, as a consultant. She has revolutionized minimally invasive techniques for periocular and facial rejuvenation and non-traumatic periocular micropigmentation. Dr. Zilkha is an International Member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, on the Board of Directors of the International Society of Cosmetic Laser Surgeons and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. Dr Zilkha is the director of the Oculoplastic Surgery at the Ipanema Center for Cosmetic and Reconstructive Eyelid Surgery in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where she has developed technologies and techniques for products before they were available in the United States.
