Although the vast majority of overweight women are actively trying to slim down, they lack the information and support they must have to succeed. Spa professionals can help by offering a simple – but very effective – weight loss program, outlined in detail by nationally-recognized weight loss expert, Dr. McAllister. Although the potential for proﬁt is great, start-up costs for weight loss services are minimal. Offering vitamin, mineral and herbal products helps clients achieve greater health, nutrition and energy while they’re slimming down, while the sale of these products provides an additional source of revenue for the spa. Weight loss services also attract new clients to spas, who might not otherwise seek traditional spa services and treatments. As clients slim down, they become increasingly motivated to take advantage of additional spa services to further enhance their health and beauty. Offering sound, simple and effective weight loss counseling is a great strategy to broaden the client base while increasing client satisfaction and spa proﬁtability. Rallie McAllister, MD, MPH, MSEH specializes in nutrition, natural health, and weight management, and is the award-winning author of several books on women’s health and ﬁtness. Her nationally syndicated newspaper column is read weekly by millions throughout the U.S. and abroad. She has served as a medical expert for WebMD, and has been featured in numerous publications including USA Today, Glamour, Redbook, Cosmo, Family Circle and Prevention. Modern hydrotherapy, though founded on a long and ancient use of hydrotherapy by all great health & wellness traditions, is based on new developments in several areas. This session will present an overview of the use of hydrotherapy in the modern spa, medical spa & wellness center including: • A better understanding of the human body as mainly a dynamic ﬂuid system • Insights to the new ways to use water as a therapeutic transformational modality • The development of better, more effective hydrotherapy equipment • Identifying main health and wellness goals of clients and how to develop holistic programs to allow clients to attain and maintain these goals This, combined with access to natural products from around the world, has opened up new and exciting possibilities for the use of hydrotherapy for all modern health & wellness programs.
