Luxury Hotelier - April 2008 - (Page 41) The Bohemian Savannah, Georgia The Bohemian Hotel at Savannah Riverfront will be the second boutique hotel in Savannah for Orlando-based hotelier and real estate developer Richard C. Kessler. With a premier location overlooking the Historic Savannah River and within walking distance to shops, restaurants, galleries and attractions, the luxury hotel will be the essence of Southern charm and hospitality. The brick architecture is representative of the historic Riverwalk, where shipping and the cotton trade once dominated. The nine-story hotel will feature 75 spacious guestrooms, Rocks Modern Grill, a rooftop café overlooking the Savannah River, unique artwork, a boardroom, fitness center, concierge service and valet parking. The property is currently under construction and is scheduled to open in spring 2009. The Orchid Panama City, Panama Benchmark Hospitality International announced The Orchid, a new luxury hotel under construction in the heart of Panama City, Panama. The Orchid is owned and being developed by the partnership of Daniel Lundstrom, a Florida-based realestate investor, and PROCASA, a leading Panamanian developer. The Orchid’s 17-story tower is being constructed in the heart of the city’s financial district, surrounded by banks, world-class shopping, casinos, fine dining restaurants and a vibrant nightlife. Waldorf=Astoria Sarasota Sarasota, Florida The Waldorf=Astoria Sarasota, a luxury, 225-room, Waldorf=Astoria hotel, will be a key component of The Proscenium, a mixed-use project in downtown Sarasota, Florida, when it opens in late 2010. The property will feature 38,000 square feet of ballroom, meeting and exhibition space, the iconic Peacock Alley Lounge, signature restaurants, a roof-top pool overlooking downtown Sarasota, and a 12,000square-foot spa, among other amenities. There also will be 67 Waldorf=Astoria Residences within the 18-story hotel tower. The project is presently in the city review process and is expected to begin construction in the fourth quarter 2008 with an anticipated year-end 2010 completion.
