Luxury Hotelier - September 2007 - (Page 68) 68| Update HOTEC Asia fosters connections Buyers and suppliers meet in this unique conference/exhibit forum H OTEC Asia, the premier business-to-business forum for the Asia Pacific hotel industry, will be hosted at the Grand Hyatt in Bali, Indonesia, October 31 to November 2. Now in its seventh year, HOTEC Asia will welcome 65 of the leading hotel owner and operators of the Asia Pacific region as well as several top hospitality design practices, including DiLeonardo International. Many groups will be attending for the first time, such as Fairmont Raffles of Canada, Higgins Purchasing of Hong Kong and some increasingly prominent players in China: Powerlong Group, Joy Hotels and Top Springs Waterfall Real Estate Development Company. The hotel groups represent the majority of the leading active four- and five-star hotels of the region, and also will include operators based in Indonesia, such as the Bali Pelagio, Orient-Express Hotels, Trains and Cruises and Swiss-Belhotel International. Seventy-seven suppliers from all over the world covering more than 30 categories of operational product are expected to attend. Newcomers include Ramler Contracts from Australia, Patodia Contracts from India and Alto Shaam of Singapore. Not an exhibition or a conference but a unique forum, HOTEC Asia incorporates prearranged face-to-face business meetings with seminar presentations and networking functions. Held in an intimate and luxurious environment, this special format provides a truly efficient and productive way of doing business. HOTEC Prearranged face-to-face meetings are a HOTEC hallmark. This efficient meeting method accomplishes business goals effectively, participants say. “HOTEC Asia allowed me to get to know my counterparts in other hotel groups and meet many vendors, all within just two days,” says Charles Lu, regional procurement manager, Asian Region, Marriott International. The speaker program is a key element of HOTEC Asia, which is integrated into the two days of the event. Jeff Higley, editorial director of LUXURY HOTELIER magazine, will host and present the program. LUXURY HOTELIER is the latest addition to Questex Media Group’s HotelWorld Network, which includes HOTEL & MOTEL MANAGEMENT and HOTEL DESIGN magazines, of which Higley also is editorial director. Subjects during this year’s program include strategic contracting in Asia, hotel design and a review of macro and micro regional industry trends. This year, the organizers expect more than 1,300 meetings to be held among the 200 delegates, representing the highest ever total. Jonathan Needs, director of Atticus Events, says, “This is our seventh year and we are predicting another record number of both hotel groups and supplier companies. It speaks volumes of the opportunities and potential for business in the region for the hotel industry.” For more information, visit www.hotecasia.com.
