Having someone draw the bath for you just adds to the enjoyment. A personal butler at the hotel, located in the Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego, California, draws guests’ baths and completes the experience with champagne, cold bottled water, Molton Brown airlight candles and natural exfoliating pads, and mood music. The bath menu matches special organic teas with aromatherapy oils and bubble bath, all designed to improve the health and well-being of the bather. “One of the biggest trends we see in bath amenities is the organic body scrubs that smell like vanilla, caramel, crème brûlée—scrubs that make your body smell like a yummy dessert treat,” says Debra Shinn, director of guest experience, Ivy Hotel. Other bath amenity trends include products that revitalize the senses, promote tranquility or boost circulation. Environmentally friendly products also are popular, such as the in-room natural products from Korres at Ivy Hotel. Ms. Shinn says guests seek the pampering nature of having a butler draw their bath. “Ivy offers bath butlers that are at the guest’s beck and call to prepare and draw their bath at a moment’s notice or a romantically planned bath with candles, aromatherapy and rose petals scattered on top of the bubbles,” she says.
