Luxury Travel Advisor - January 2008 - (Page 58) THE PULSE Steenberg Suites Outside Cape Town and Constantia Valley’s oldest wine farm, Steenberg Hotel’s (www. steenberghotel.com) Jonkershuis (“young man’s house”) now boasts three new Heritage Suites. What’s to love? The suites have private pools that have been meticulously carved out as tributes to three distinct historic periods. The one-bedroom, 1,786square-foot duplex Cape Colonial Suite sports a tradi- tional Cape Dutch style and some original furnishings, such as a meelkas (for flour storage) and a jongmanskas (for storing clothes). The one-bedroom, 1,248-square-foot Dutch East India Suite (living room shown, above) celebrates Cape Town’s diverse cultural roots and the Dutch East India Company’s role in the city’s storied past. Exotic Oriental fabrics, exquisite ceramics and works of art from the West are a nice touch. An original 1664 map depicts the silk route from Holland via the Cape of Good Hope to the Far East. The two-bedroom, 1,753-square-foot duplex Khoi Khoi Suite (lounge pictured, above, left) brims with artifacts and has commissioned original pencil drawings depicting the historic Khoi Khoi tribe who once inhabited the Cape of Good Hope. Décor draws heavily on the natural elements and philosophy of its people. These butler-serviced Wi-Ficapable suites have separate living and dining rooms and fireplaces. Heritage Suites can’t be booked through the GDS; if you’re sending VIPs, contact General Manager Gaby Gramm (gaby. gramm@steenberghotel.com). Don’t be nickel and dimed “When I added up all the extra charges I'd have to pay with host agencies and saw the support that I would get from Travel Counsellors I knew I would be financially better off and my business would be stronger. Not least because they focus on helping you build your own business and I'm not reliant on leads being passed to me. I generate my own! For me, no one else can touch them in that respect and I haven't looked back. The standard and level of support is absolutely unbelieveable. I was already home-based so I understand the flexibility that offers, but I wanted extra support to help me build on my experience. My clients expect, deserve and enjoy world class service but that’s only been possible since I joined Travel Counsellors.” Lisa Williams, Travel Counsellor The host for professionals call: 800 594 5996 email: join@travelcounsellors.com web: www.travel-homeworking.com http://www.steenberghotel.com http://www.steenberghotel.com http://www.travel-homeworking.com
