Luxury Travel Advisor - February 2008 - (Page 58) THE PULSE New Luxury in Knightsbridge Have a client who’s looking for a swanky place to stay in London’s fashionable Knightsbridge neighborhood? The Jumeirah Carlton Tower (www.jumeirah.com) has six new suites to offer. What do we love? In an unexpected design twist, Jumeirah Carlton Tower and interior designer Khuan Chew abandoned the typical trend of decorating in neutrals in favor of contrasting fabrics and design elements in a modern, classic movement. Timber floors line the living spaces, which are outfitted with rich, upholstered couches, dark-wood furniture and hand-tufted rugs; shades of red and aubergine and natural woods keep the feeling warm and welcoming. Deciding which will appeal most to your VIP? All suites will feature a similar style; subtle differences will be displayed in the suites’ individually commissioned art works by British artists. Other unique touches include private lobby entrances with mini-bars (perhaps the perfect “welcome home” after a day spent shopping at nearby Harrods), and bedrooms with walls of chrome, timber and leather. (We say clients who are particularly prone to primping will love the large bathrooms, which are the hotel’s most spacious.) Tip: The six luxury suites can be had as one- or two-bedroom abodes. Insiders tell us that luxury travel advisors should book via the hotel’s reservations office (44207-823-1234) and that each is promised the same personalized, five-star treatment. RICH COLORS like red and aubergine feature largely in the new suites (living room shown below); their bathrooms are the hotel's largest. 58 LUXURY TRAVEL ADVISOR | February 2008 http://www.jumeirah.com http://www.tahitinuitravel.biz http://www.tahitinuitravel.biz
