Luxury Travel Advisor - February 2008 - (Page 66) JETSET REPORT Supermodel for a Day Let your client be a supermodel for a day at DEX New York (www.dexnewyork.com), a new makeup/photography studio that’s just opened in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood. Clients can take over the entire facility to host a makeup/hairstyling party, which could include, upon request, the use of a professional photographer who will take portfolioquality portraits. DEX just hosted a posh event for a 14-year-old’s birthday party; it also hosted a group of executive women who bonded while getting glammed up. Life in the Fast Lane Elite Rent-a-Car (www.eliterent.com), a luxury car rental program that has been operating in Europe for 20 years, has launched a new program called the “Elite Driving Experience,” a series of customizable and packaged driving itineraries ranging from three to seven days. Programs can be arranged for groups of two through 20, in specialty vehicles that include a Ferrari 430, Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, Porsche Carrera or a BMW Z4. One recent three-night itinerary was customized around a visit to the legendary Ferrari Gallery in Maranello, a driving circuit that navigates Tuscany’s wine country and the Maremma Coast. Elite Rent-a-Car’s programs work in two ways. Clients can arrange to have a chauffer drive them, or they can operate the vehicles themselves. In either case, the cars are delivered directly to the clients and collected from them at the end of their experience. Clients also receive 24-hour customer and road assistance and route design. On guided trips, luggage is delivered to hotels in a van, leaving ample space in the car so clients can enjoy the vehicle in a roomy environment.
