For example, the main lobby has dark concrete herringbone-patterned floors, and guests check in at a solid burled maple desk. Hallways are paneled in black steel, affording a sleek and sexy approach to the rooms. Inside the guest rooms, the dark notes in the design continue, with the wall behind the bed covered with black leather and a smoky mirror. Other funky touches we loved: Vertical strips of mirrored glass hang on the ceiling over the bed, and drapes can be drawn to create pitch-black conditions in the room. Not everything in the room is dark, however; the walls are primarily white, contrasting nicely with the ebonized white oak hardwood floors. Each room New York cool walks side by side with L.A. flash at the newest addition to the Thompson Hotels portfolio. has a small balcony that overlooks L.A., giving ample access to SoCal’s sunshine. Of the hotel’s 107 rooms, 13 are One-bedroom Suites (all of which can be converted into Two-bedroom Suites), a signature Thompson Suite and an eighthfloor Penthouse.
