The ninthfloor bi-level rooftop has magnificent views of the Hollywood Hills, exclusive lounge areas and private cabanas with flat-screen TVs, mini-bars and sofa beds. The largest cabana can accommodate up to 16 people. ABH (that stands for Above Beverly Hills) is a rooftop lounge replete with firepits, a heated pool and a gym encased in glass. With drinks, appetizers and meals available from the hotel’s restaurant, Luxury Travel Advisor found the whole ambience to be very Entourage. For now, the spa at the Thompson Beverly Hills is limited to what staff call “Spa on Demand” in four spa treatment rooms. Here, guests can arrange all the expected treatments, from facials to manicures to massages. Spa treatments are also available in guests’ rooms. Hint: The awards season, which runs mid-January through the end of February, is extremely busy, so reserve as far ahead as possible during those times. The December-January holiday season also books up quickly. The West Coast’s first BondSt sushi restaurant, from restaurateur Jonathan Morr, has taken up residence on the first floor of the hotel. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the 130-seat restaurant has outdoor dining, a sushi bar and an exclusive second-floor BondSt lounge with a private library alcove. A breakfast favorite is the Japanese omelet, which is prepared with three types of mushrooms: shiitake, maitake and honshemeji. The best tables to book are the three circular tables that can seat eight. We were very impressed with table 60, which was painstakingly handcrafted from a 2,500-yearold slab of wood.
