Luxury Travel Advisor - March 2009 - (Page 28) AT ELEVENSPA’s beauty bar (above), clients receive makeup applica- tions at stations supplied with pop-up mirrors and plush seating. SPA MIO (left) at M Resort, Spa and Casino is still in its infancy, but its mature décor and lavish amenities are sure to make it an off-the-strip hit. (www.elevenspa.com) a 20,000square-foot facility located at Town Square, a 1.5 millionsquare-foot retail center on the Las Vegas Strip. Not part of any particular hotel, ElevenSpa Vegas is also refreshingly different in concept. Designed by Eleven founder Nicole Oden, the spa seeks—and succeeds—in conjuring the Beverly Hills Hotel. Luxury Travel Advisor liked the classic black-and-white films from the glory days of Hollywood projected in the lounge. Guests sit underneath hand-made Australian crystal chandeliers and revel in the Tinseltown treatment provided by ElevenSpa butlers, who are dressed to the nines in tuxedos and gray gloves. The whole effect is very Garbo, Deitrich and Boyer. One star treatment that caught our attention was the decadent and signature Eleven Mink Massage, which includes a massage on faux-mink-lined sheets. It’s a tad premature to single out the spa’s most popular treatment, although the Glitterati Body Treatment is currently leading the pack. The treatment combines a Pink Diamond Glow body exfoliation with a Pink Diamond body massage. Note: ElevenSpa uses its own line of organic skin care products, ElevenSkin. Oden plays it close to the vest when it comes to revealing the ingredients in the products, although she does reveal they’re harvested from the sea off the south coast of France. In addition to five couple treatment rooms, ElevenSpa Vegas has Bungalow 69, a private treatment room for two, with full spa services, including a romantic bath treatment for two. Insider Tip: For celebrity guests and private parties, a spacious VIP treatment room with a private entrance is also available with leather couches, a concierge desk and a private bathroom and shower. ElevenSpa Vegas features celebrity hairstylist Ken Paves; he’s already made a splash at Eleven Spa Palm Beach and Beverly Hills. The full-service Ken Paves signature salon at ElevenSpa Vegas has 12 styling stations. Celeb Sighting: You might find yourself sitting next to Jessica Simpson or Eva Longoria, two of his celebrity clients. The spa director here is Diane Ravan (diane@elevenspavegas. com; 702-967-1100) and booking treatments ahead of time is recommended. On our radar: The 390-room M Resort, Spa and Casino (www.themresort.com) opened on March 1, bucking the odds in a challenging economic climate and an off-strip location. From all accounts, the resort’s 23,000square-foot Spa Mio has all the bells and whistles with 16 treatment rooms, sauna, steam and Jacuzzi wet areas, full-service salon and barbershop and a stateof-the-art fitness center—all with views of the resort’s Villaggio Del Sole’s canyon waterfall and firewall. The spa bathrooms include inlaid mirror TVs and separate tubs and showers; it’s the perfect area to relax in either before or after a treatment. Chuck Oliverio (coliverio@ themresort.com; 702-797-1000) is the director of Spa Mio. The resort encourages guests to make reservations in advance by calling 702-797-1800. 28 LUXURY TRAVEL ADVISOR | March 2009 http://www.themresort.com http://www.elevenspa.com
