We found La Torre (tower), with its fabulous bed and private rooftop terrace, and the small and romantic Torreta del Tezio (little tower) ideal for honeymooners; both have separate entrances from the top of the castle. Tip: The roof is perfect for summer wedding parties. For on-site dining, Oscano' s Turandot (all the public rooms are named after Italian operas) serves traditional Umbrian cuisine, while leisure options include a pool with a panoramic view and a small gym in the old stables. Castello Il Borgia (www.il-borgia.it/en), near Lake Trasimeno in Umbria, imparts a totally private-castle feel for a client and a dozen of his or her nearest and dearest. (Of course, a cook and staff are availableÐa cook is provided the first night at no charge.) The castle is complete with soaring ceiling, grand stone fireplaces and frescoes. All the rooms are uniquely designedÐt here are six double bedrooms and two singles, decorated with antiques, some with handpainted wallpaper. The six bathrooms are all new, but as is the case with many family properties, only three are en suite. Room 1, on the front of the house, has a grand fireplace and lake views, however there' s no en-suite bath. Room 2, a large space with a garden view, does have an en-suite bath.
