Luxury Travel Advisor - July 2008 - (Page 60) JUST BACK The Montague Maureen Jones of All Horizons Travel in Los Altos, CA, paid a visit to The Montague on the Gardens while on a trip to London. Here is her report. recently stayed at The Montague on the Gardens (www.montaguehotel. com) in London, which is part of The Red Carnation Hotel Collection in the Bloomsbury district. The hotel comprises nine Georgian houses belonging to the Duke of Bedford, and his staff was housed there. It was bought by RCG and completely remodeled, resulting in 100 rooms of exquisite taste. Among them are three connecting rooms, 11 one-bedroom suites, three executive suites on two levels and three master suites on three levels. A few have four-poster beds. There is one handicapped-accessible room and a delightful two-bedroom apartment on the lower level. There are great restaurants that have terraces and decks suitable for dining outside in the warmer months. The restaurants and rooms overlook a lovely garden belonging to the Duke, which is unusual for London. It is quiet, close to the British Museum and conveniently located near the Eurostar station. Low prices are available for January and August and weekends. The Montague has 105 well-trained international staff and music every night in the bar. It is classy and elegant and maintains outstanding personal service. It is now my number-one four-star property. The hotel can arrange airport pick-ups. If your client wants to upgrade, I recommend The Milestone (www.milestonehotel.com), a sister property in Kensington.
