To earn this industry distinction, the hotel had to take five-star to the next level, and from the moment we pulled up to the classic Haussman-style entrance (in our concierge-arranged Mercedes E Class airport transfer), it was clear they took this mission seriously. Designed by architect Edouard Francois, Fouquet’s Barrière is made up of five completely renovated, interconnected buildings that wrap around the Le Fouquet restaurant, a landmark brasserie that opened in 1898 and today enjoys historic monument status. Done up in rich tones of chocolate brown and light gold, the ornate lobby and reception give way to two elevator banks that whisk guests up to 67 guest rooms and 40 suites. Accommodations are spread out over five Belle Époque-style buildings, so room size and shape vary depending on location. The 10 levels include three types of HOTEL FOUQUET’S BARRIERE’s bar has become a regular stopping place for savvy locals (above).
