If your clients want more casual dining, recommend a taverna, such as Dimitris Taverna (30-22860/82532). Mykonos: Sailing north we hit Mykonos, one of the top international tourist destinations. The island of Mykonos is one of the main attractions of the Greek Isles, so within its city center, expect lots of dance clubs, restaurants with Americanized menus and shops with over-priced merchandise for sale, which occasionally can be haggled down if you have a good command of Greek. For a more authentic experience, we suggest renting a car or, for the more adventurous, a Vespa to take a ride through Mykonos’s winding roads and explore the island beyond its tourist traps. There you will find quieter beaches and more authentic cuisine, including an amazing, albeit oddly located, Italian restaurant, Bandanna (www.bandan naweb.com). Located near Kalafati Beach, the atmosphere at Bandanna is so relaxed that Florence-born chef Gianluca Barlichi may come out and join you for part of your meal (and possibly try to convince you to take home one of the many stray kittens that roam the island). If you need to suggest lodging, look no further than the Kivotos ClubHotel Deluxe (www.kivotosclubhotel.gr). The five-star hotel is part of The Leading Small Hotels of the World and is located in Bay of Ornos, about 10 minutes outside of Mykonos. The hotel has 40 rooms and suites, each designed by local artists and craftsmen, and boasts five pools and a private beach.
