Crystal Cruises (www.crys talcruises.com) has been doing New England/Canada for years now, and of all the preeminent luxury cruise lines, is the only one still operating the itineraries uninterrupted. In 2008, Crystal will offer three one-way, 11-day cruises beginning September 16 through October 19 between Montréal and New York. Port calls include Saint John, New Brunswick; Bar Harbor, ME; Newport, RI; and an overnight stop in Boston. A 10-day cruise departing October 19 from Montréal with identical port calls as the 11-day version (sans the Bos- space and comes with personal butler service, complimentary in-room bar (perfect for kicking back on the oversized veranda), Riedel glassware, a private workout room and a Jacuzzi to soak in after a rigorous workout. Hint: We recommend utilizing Crystal’s door-to-door baggage service (www.luggage concierge.com/crystal) to alleviate the stress of shuttling luggage through the airport. Although Holland America Line (www.hollandamerica. com) is considered by most to be a premium product, their suite accommodations bump comes in handy when dining in. Eurodam has some of the newest suites at sea. None better than the Penthouse Verandah Suites, of which there are two on Deck 7 (#7031 and #7036) measuring slightly larger than Maasdam’s same-named suite at 1,318 square feet. Each provides 982 square feet of that premium experience to one of luxury. In 2008 and 2009, Holland America will employ the Eurodam, the line’s newest ship, and the Maasdam to New England/Canada from August through October. The mixture of seven- to 20-day cruises feature calls in Boston; Portland and Bar Harbor in Maine; Québec City and Montreal in Québec; Newport, RI; and New York. On Maasdam, the 1,159square-foot Penthouse Verandah Suite (#001) will turn your premium experience into a luxury one. For 2008, Celebrity Constellation will operate 12-, 13- and 14-night cruises from September through October from Bayonne, NJ, with port calls that include Boston; Portland, ME; and Newport, RI. In 2009, Celebrity Constellation will reprise its New England/ Canada sailings. For a luxury experience, book your clients in one of the 1,432square-foot Penthouse Suites on the Penthouse Deck (#6147 and #6148). The suites come with European butler service to fulfill any of your clients’ whims, including the drudgery of unpack- ing and packing. Other features include separate living and dining areas, a master bath with whirlpool (also one on the veranda), and a baby grand piano. Venerable Cunard Line (www. cunard.com) will feature Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth 2 in 2008, the latter operating—for the last time—a 20-day “Autumn Colours” cruise departing September 10, roundtrip from Southampton and calling at New York and Boston, among other New England and Canadian ports. (The ship will be retired at the end of the year and turned into a luxury hotel on Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah.) In 2009, Queen Victoria will assume Queen Elizabeth 2’s “Autumn Colours” itinerary. Cunard still operates based on a caste system, offering different restaurants and services for different stateroom categories. Queens Grill suites are the most lavish, offering personal butler service, priority embarkation, dining in the Queens Grill and—for those with kids in tow—in-room Xboxs. On Queen Mary 2, the top of the line is the Balmoral & Sandringham Grand Duplex Suites at 2,249 square feet; on Queen Victoria, it’s the Grand Suites that measure between 1,918 and 2,131 square feet. For a quaint, complete New England immersion, we recommend American Cruise Lines (www.americancruiselines.com). The cruise line offers three separate New England cruises, varying in length from eight to 10 days in both 2008 and 2009. We are most excited about the Maine Coast & Harbors cruise on American Star and American Glory.
