Luxury Travel Advisor - September 2007 - (Page 22) marble in the public spaces. General Manager Paolo Falchi (pfalchi@hotel-invest.com; 39-66-86-611) and Sales Manager Olivia Saratti (saratti@hotel-invest.com; 39-66-642198/194) are ready to help with VIP residents or special arrangements. Tip: Ask for a fifth-floor Deluxe Room or Junior Suites; they have terraces with fantastic views of Gianicolo Hill. Other things to note when booking: The rooms ending in 05 all face the inner garden, and, of those, Deluxe Room 405 is best. There is no view in Junior Suite 120, but there is a small office set up in the entry. Deluxe Room 108 also has some working space with a desk and two windows. Another tip: If you want a bathtub or king-sized bed, ask for it, as the rooms are differently appointed. Though the bathrooms are small, they are plush, with great lip balm in the amenity basket. The St. George has its own small spa, with a small indoor pool. The Wine Bar is a good spot to wile away the afternoon, while the Cigar Lounge offers top choices for the smokers. Lunch at the Sofa di Via Giulia restaurant can be fun; they serve a Japanese-style box lunch with Italian food. Ferragamo’s Portrait Suites (www.lungar nohotels.com), which opened in the summer of 2006, is a 14-room boutique hotel that celebrates the design family’s history: The walls are lined with the Ferragamo collection of drawings and photos, logos subtly appear in curtain fabrics and here and there are painted wooden forms for shoes encased in plexiglass boxes. Ask Monica (portraitsuites@ lungarnohotels.com; 39-66-938-0742) to make special plans for your client, such as private cooking lessons, an in-room massage, tours or shopping excursions. For particular requests or to make plans for the Portrait Suites and other Lungarno hotels in Florences, as well as transfers, contact Elisa Francini (39-55-2727-6800). The sixth-floor Penthouse Suite is a ST. GEORGE ROMA (top) rooms have oak floors and contemporary decor.
