The Langham Hotel, Hong Kong is beginning the first phase of the transformation of its 495 guest rooms. Four floors will be renovated this year, converting 158 guest rooms. The $22 million renovation, which is intended to give the hotel more of a residential ambience, includes a total redesign of room layouts, all-new furniture, ornate bathrooms, linens, drapery, artwork and the addition of state-of the-art technology, including 37-inch plasma TVs and Nortel IP phones. (There’s currently no Wi-Fi.) The entire project will span three years: The first phase of the renovation will be completed in October 2007, while the second and third phases will begin in 2008 and 2009, respectively.
