Luxury Travel Advisor - September 2007 - (Page 63) making shore excursion reservations, and he’ll even unpack your clients’ suitcases, which, we think, has great value for the older set. All the butlers are nattily dressed, sporting snazzy tuxedos. One of the neater things is afternoon teatime, during which the butler will peddle a tea cart through the hallway, knock on guests’ doors and serve them a tea flavor of their choice along with cookies. We went with a peanut butter cookie and washed it down with a spot of Chamomile tea. As we mentioned, there are two specialty restaurants on board. After dining at Aqualina, it was now our chance to check out the offerings at Prime C. Let’s get this out of the way before we divulge the details of our meal: Prime C is one of the best restaurants we’ve eaten at, either at sea or on land, and the décor is spectacular (think rich wood paneling and spotless glass accents). One way we rate the performance of a restaurant is by how well it prepares a mundane dish. Let’s take the iceberg wedge and tomato salad we had to start. Instead of laying out just a hunk of lettuce with a slice of tomato like many steakhouses do, chefs at Prime C cut the wedges in thirds, dress each up with bacon and tomato, then drizzle the dressing ever so slightly over the dish. (One of our pet peeves is over-dressing.) Instead of the blue cheese, we opted for the lemon-oil dressing, which was light and perfectly blended (the olive oil didn’t mask the lemon and vice versa). When it came time to order the entrée, we went with the Kobe flatiron steak, which commands an $8 surcharge. If your clients make this their pick as well, make sure to suggest they have it prepared medium-rare (any temperature over that defeats the purpose). A beautiful Sauternes accompanied our chocolate lava cake, which dissuaded us from ordering a tall glass of milk. After dinner we took in the “That’s Hollywood” show at the Celebrity Cabaret, RELAXATION AREAS are dispersed throughout the ship’s top decks, affording vast sea views. which featured a compilation of movie show tunes sung by a group of young performers (two guys and three girls backed by a band). Afterward, we enjoyed a quick jaunt through the Casino Luxe and we were off to bed. We’ll spare you the details of our dreams, but we will say that, after a full day on board Azamara Journey, we slept like a baby. JOURNEY is the first in Azamara’s two-ship fleet.
