Luxury Travel Advisor - September 2007 - (Page 82) JETSET REPORT TO PARIS IN A NEW YORK MINUTE L’Avion (www.lavion.com), the all-business-class French airline, says that it is expediting its growth plans and that starting within the 2007/2008 winter season it will offer a second flight from New York to Paris leaving from Newark Liberty Airport and arriving at Orly Sud. L’Avion’s additional airplane, a Boeing 757-200 equipped with Pratt & Whitney engines, will have an identical configuration to L’Avion’s first airplane with 90 business-class seats. TAKAMI DEFINES VIP DINING We love Los Angeles and we were just given one new reason to love it even more. The glitterati-packed city has added a new dining nightspot to its list of ultra-chic offerings. Takami Sushi & Robata Restaurant (www.takamisushi.com), which opened last month, is one of the latest in a string of hip new L.A. haunts. This happening place is situated on the corner of Flower Street and Wilshire Boulevard and is in the midst of the high-powered financial district, making it the perfect place for the trendy local looking to grab a cocktail after work—choices include Sake or Sojubased cocktails—or the ultra-chic visitor looking for the hottest place to get the party started. In fact, this trendy spot is located in the penthouse suite of 811 Wilshire, a downtown L.A. skyscraper. If your VIP is looking for a meal to pair with his classy cocktail, we suggest the “Pop Art Crab,” which is a combination of crispy tempura, Dungeness crab, sweet potato, avocado, shishito pepper and four distinct sauces. Other top picks? We also love the glass-enclosed wine room with a floor-to-ceiling wine display. Sending VIPs? FIRST CLASS ALL THE WAY Lufthansa (www.lufthansa.com) has opened its First-Class Lounge in Terminal 2 at the ultra-posh Munich Airport. Those high flyers who have been guests of the airline’s Frankfurt First-Class Terminal will find a similar gourmet restaurant, bar area, cigar lounge and spacious bathrooms with Jacuzzis. Guests will also have separate access to and from the Lounge via Level 4 (EU Departures), as well as via Level 5 (Non-EU Departures). The exclusive passport control and security checkpoints are also located within the Lounge, enabling all arriving, departing or transit passengers to change levels directly. A dedicated Lufthansa staff member attends to each passenger's needs throughout their stay. The airline reports that its first-class passenger clientele has grown quite rapidly over recent years.
