From the cruise port, the Central Business District and Jackson Square to the French Quarter and the Garden District, we say New Orleans looks as good as it ever did. More good news is around the corner for luxury travelers: Hilton recently announced that it is adding a member of its Waldorf group, and Trump International plans to build its first hotel in New Orleans. We visited The Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans (www.ritzcarlton.com), which has undergone a $105 million renovation. Set on Canal Street, the city’s main thoroughfare, and only one block from Bourbon Street, the property actually comprises three hotels. The largest is the 15-story traditional luxury hotel, which sports a newly expanded twostory spa. Of the hotel’s 38 suites, the most desirable is the top-floor 2,800-square-foot penthouse-style Ritz-Carlton Suite.
