Luxury Travel Advisor - November 2007 - (Page 40) refrigerator. The suite also boasts its own washer and dryer, perfect for those clients who are traveling with personal staff or children. For clients looking for topof-the-line accommodations, we recommend room 5504. The three-bedroom Oceanfront Penthouse is similar in design to the Oceanview Suite, except that it offers more space. The magic moment of this suite for us? The outdoor Jacuzzi with a front-andcenter view of the ocean. The property is home to two restaurants, Plunge, the resort’s poolside restaurant, and Parallel 23, which requires reservations. Both are open to locals and offer spectacular cuisine. We suggest recommending Parallel ROOM 4203, a one-bedroom Oceanview Suite, features two balconies and views of the ocean and the infinity pool (bedroom shown, above). OCEANVIEW SUITES at The Regent Palms Turks & Caicos have a sepa- rate sitting and living area that overlooks the property’s grounds. Photos by Joe Pike 23 to clients who are looking for a romantic, elegant dining experience. The restaurant serves local cuisine: seafood—mainly conch—and meat dishes. Tip: Reserve a table outside for your clients, but note that, as is the case on all islands of the Caribbean, some mosquito repellent is recommended. We opted for the Thai pumpkin soup appetizer, which is adorned with crispy tofu, pickled shiitake mushrooms and coconut cream, and the char-grilled 14ounce pork chop entrée, which is soaked in garlic and thyme, topped with foie gras tourchon and a six-bean stew and is served with caramelized red onions and asparagus (the stew gives the chop a surprisingly sweet aftertaste). Suggest that clients who order these particular dishes wash them down with a bottle of Wishing Tree, a tasty chardonnay we sampled from the extensive wine list. At the Regent Spa, treatment rooms are surrounded by water, each with its own water feature by day and fire feature by night. We indulged in the “Vespers: Drift Away” massage, a head-totoe treatment that is completed with a temple massage with the spa’s aromatherapy resting cream, Repose. The bed, like all those at the spa, has a water mattress. Unlike traditional waterbeds, however, which tend to toss your body around, these beds were quite steady and even conformed to our body. Suggest clients also take advantage of the outside shower, steam room or sauna. The attendant will check on guests every 10 minutes with a refreshing cold bottle of water. We felt so relaxed after our massage that we had to have a nap before heading to dinner. Contact Sarah Thatcher (sara.thatcher@regent experience.com), spa director, to reserve a treatment for your client in advance. Clients who hope to get in some good shopping here won’t be disappointed. The property features such boutiques as Wish, which carries contemporary wear for men and women; Palm, a shop that sells gift items; Splash, a boutique featuring bathing suits and attire prime for the beach; and Harmony Gallery, which offers luxury handmade gifts for the home, including mirrors and original artwork.
