St. Thomas BY RUTHANNE TERRERO THE RITZ-CARLTON, Luxury Travel Advisor couldn’t resist a trip to the U.S. Virgin Islands to check out the $40 million renovation at The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas. Presidential Suites, all of which are bookable over the GDS. It measures more than 1,850 square feet in size, and its top-floor location means it serves up sweeping “down-island” views to Jost Van Dyke, St. John and Tortola and a view over Great Bay. The dining area for eight, plus the kitchen and a pantry, give this suite an apartment-like feel. We loved the exclusive fitness room and that access to two connecting rooms can turn this into a threebedroom suite. Tip: 49 of the resort’s accommodations offer connecting options. All accommodations at the property have the all-important double sinks. Because the resort is on the east side of the island, clients should make note to rise early for lovely sunrise views. Indulgent couples or active families will want a spacious oceanview Club Level Executive Suite in the Freesia building. These most popular premium accommodations offer access to the Club Lounge and are appropriate for both families and romantic couples. Hint for parents traveling with teens: Guests younger than 16 can sign up for mini-massages, teen facials and manicures and pedicures at the 12-room spa. The facility, which has two suites and an oceanside cabana for treatments, employs Prada Beauty products. Insist that clients reserve a massage with Marvin Ward; Spa Director The focus of the project was adding on 55 more Club Level rooms, 15 Executive Suites and four Presidential Suites.
